Re: John Watson Guild, Banchory-Ternan

Thanks both!
John Watson sounds quite a character. I see he was from Braemar. The ancestor in question - Peter Mitchell - his father Farquharson Mitchell was from Crathie - maybe they knew one another, or the families were connected. Who knows now...

John Watson Guild, Banchory-Ternan

I'm de-clluttering and getting distracted by re-finding family history bits 'n' pieces. One of these is an ancestor's obituary which states that he was active in the John Watson Guild, Banchory. Anyone know anything about this Guild?

Re: A nurse in an institution in Gourock, Renfrew in 1911

Andrew - thanks again! No, that link wouldn't work for me either but the information provided beneath it was useful to me. All of your links work - thank you! Hi
Andrew - thank you - I found the Header page (never knew about that) and it seems the institution was the Smithston Poorhouse and Parochial Asylum - hope it hasn't a horrendous history!
Thanks for your help

A nurse in an institution in Gourock, Renfrew in 1911

Hi! I've found an ancestor - Mary Ann RAE - listed in 1911 Census in Gourock, Renfrew one of a dozen nurses in some institution which has a Governor, Medical Officer and several nursing assistants. Two questions - what kind of an institution was/is there, a hospital? Where might she have trained or ...

Re: Grassick/h family Strathdon/Corgarff/Wester Chappelton

though it begs the question- who is the other one?
Wilma - I think the other one is a daughter of James Grassick and Jean Forbes, another Margaret Grassick also born 1818 the same year as Helen Grassick and also in Strathdon.
