Two years after the grave re-dedication ceremony I thought ...

Re: Ernest Russell Lyon ( 1923-1944)

A fitting tribute and such a handsome young man. Regards, Anne H Anne writes "such a handsome young man" I have Russell's Scout diary record for the early 1940's before his 18th bithrday after which he volunteered for the RAF Volunteer Reserve. This, written by Russell as troop leader in Colinton, ...

Re: Ernest Russell Lyon ( 1923-1944)

Oh dear, my talkingscot Puffin cover is blown...... I will have to think about adopting a new identity for the next cause to fight. This was also last week in The Scotsman and the Edinburgh Evening News, and in the Times Scottish edition, following an exclusive in the Sunday Telegraph written by Joh...

Re: Ernest Russell Lyon ( 1923-1944)

After many months/years have elapsed since I last posted news on this topic quietly, and in the background, I have been making progress towards achieving recognition of Russell's grave at Guidel. Many hurdles were in our path, but at long last we now have a decision. Over this time I remained quiet ...

Re: Lost ancestor William Walker Lyon.....

For interest I thought I would transcribe the report of the 16th July 1866 from The South Australian Advertiser (Adelaide SA 1858-1889) found on the website at http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/28789155 ARRIVAL OF THE BRITISH LION WITH 428 GOVERNMENT IMMIGRANTS. The British Lion -was seen...
