https://www.familysearch.org/ is an option which provides a 'free account'. It now requires that you register for a 'free account' which gives you limited access to their records. Be aware that the page also is a gateway to signing up for a 2 week trial for which you must supply your credit card. I...

Re: Isabella Shewan - daughter of Mary Fraser, Alexander Shewan

Hello Rachel,

Does the paternity order mention his occupation or anything else about him? There are quite a few possible Alexander Shewans in the area in 1861.

Best wishes,
Sarah

Hello Sonia, I see you never got an official [welcome] to [talkingscot] when you made your first post last month. It looks like Jen, the original poster, hasn't been on the forum since 2007 and probably doesn't know you have posted. We are glad you are here anyway and hope you can eventually get in ...

Hello RachelH and [TS_welcome] I hope some of the previous posters on this thread will see your reply! Alison hasn't been on the forum for nearly 10 years :( but Paula has logged in more recently. With luck, they both will have followed the advice to tick the box to get notified of new posts and you...

Re: Seeking William Strachan, Kincardine, 1817/18 - 1899

Hello Gordon and [TS_welcome] William and wife Mary are still in Dun, Angus in 1891, giving Laurencekirk as his birthplace as usual. Like you, I don't see his birth, so it may not have been registered or his family may not have been Church of Scotland. There were many Episcopalians in that area and ...

Dear Candy, Very frustrating for you! Sheila hasn't been on the forum since 2013, so is unlikely to see your posts unless she is alerted via email (and still has the same email address.) If the PM is still in the outbox, it means that it has been sent, but not yet been received. Fingers crossed that...

Hello Fiona and [TS_welcome]

How exciting that you have such a close connection! Paulpesda was last on the forum in August, but may well receive an email that someone has answered the post. If not, you might try a Private Message.

All the best,
Sarah
