Hello Cathy, The file linked by Alan in BT 372 would be his Seaman's Pouch, some contain a lot of information, others very little but usually there is a photo, albeit a mugshot, of the seaman. If he served during WW2 then the file you really need is his CRS 10 which is his service record from Jan 19...
