Re: Scholarship

Hi Maureen Have you tried researching Hutcheson's Grammar School? It began way back in the 17th century and for many years was in Crown Street in the Gorbals. I think it moved from there in 1969. My uncles were educated there. It was 'open to intelligent children from any background'. Hope this help...

Re: The end of the world

It's been a long time, Anne. Does that mean you only have a holiday every three years?

Thanks for this story. It brought that nasty part of Scottish history alive.

Re: Is sorry enough?

It seems that the following is more than ever a 'must read' book. Until I read it I had never heard of the existance of the migrant children even though I would be in the same age group as many of them. Empty Cradles Margaret Humphreys. Corgi Books ISBN 0 552 14164X £9.99 I would call this a book of...

Trish
Thank you for the information on the Walkers.

William Walker from Renfrew sounds likely, so I've taken note of the reference. Will get back to you to share the good news if he proves to be mine.

Best wishes

Australian Research

Hi Nellie What a generous offer you made! If that offer is still available, I would be grateful for your help. In a booklet in the Paisley Museum, I found information about the death of three members of my Walker family in Maffra Colony, Victoria in August 1857. Andrew, Robert and William were broth...

Utah Pioneers

Thanks, Joette, for that site. Out of the 17 Livingstons that came up on my pioneer search, 12 are definetely part of our family. Seems to me that it will be well worth while doing a bit of research on the five other names.
Kind regards
Catriona
