Hi Maureen Have you tried researching Hutcheson's Grammar School? It began way back in the 17th century and for many years was in Crown Street in the Gorbals. I think it moved from there in 1969. My uncles were educated there. It was 'open to intelligent children from any background'. Hope this help...

Thanks, Joette, for that site. Out of the 17 Livingstons that came up on my pioneer search, 12 are definetely part of our family. Seems to me that it will be well worth while doing a bit of research on the five other names.
