Re: General Query

Hi Annette, The thing is, you mentioned the name McPherson - Well! Their daughter Jane, (My great grandmother) married Donald McPherson, I had another look, but Jane & Donald's daughter Ann would have been too young to be the informant. I thought it was their(James & Mary's) daughter, Ann Richmond, ...

Re: General Query

The years I have for them living at that address are 1885/86. (The years on their death certificates) The name was Richmond, but if Ann (the informant) was a grand daughter rather than a daughter her name could have been McPherson, and it might explain the discrepancy in he name of James first wife.

Re: General Query

I think maybe a single end would have been enough for James and Mary! A two room and kitchen, with water closet & etc., sounds a bit expensive.

Re: General Query

My thanks to all who answered and tried to help. I now think that 54, McIntosh Street, was just where they lived, (and died by all accounts). I still haven't managed to trace daughter Ann, but maybe I won't after all this time. Her information wasn't much help to me anyway. Not very accurate. Thanks...

Re: General Query

Thank you for that John! It was a much better map than I was able to get myself, but after coming out and reading your post again, I tried to get back to it, and my silly machine told me it couldn't find the page
I will let it have a rest and try again later.
Thank you for your help

Re: General Query

Thank you Andrew and Caroline for you swift replies. I believe that it was James's daughter, Ann who registered his death. Maybe she had removed to Glasgow? I should have looked for her before bothering anyone, but I was so puzzled. It seems like such a big undertaking when getting on in years to mo...

General Query

It has been a while since I visited the site, but I have started looking at my tree again. I find that my great, great grandparents although they lived for many years in Inverness-shire, (he was a gamekeeper) when the time for retirement (?)came, they finished up in Glasgow. I have the address where...

Thanks for that Lynn! I have seen a few weird spellings, but that goes with the job in this lark. I will keep looking though!

Re: Family History Goals for 2018

G'day Lynnc, Just browsing through for the first time in ages and saw your post. I have been helping my Grand Daughter in law with her family tree, and one of the names she has is 'McWhae". I hadn't come across the name before, but I notice that it is one of 'your' names. The name I have is John Dou...

Re: Outlander

If you had read the books and read Diana Gabaldon's comments, she says at one point,"How can it be historically correct? Do I really expect my reader to believe that Claire saw the Loch Ness Monster?"
