Re: Bottlemaker in Dumbarton?
This connects with the will, BUT it's any early records I am looking for. Before 1815! Here's a lovely piece I just found about the works though. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/australian-woman-traces-family-roots-11213404 Hopefully - Alison Alison, I have a PDF copy of John C. Logan...

Re: Scottish Glassblowers
Here is my rough transcription of the letter. Words I had trouble deciphering are in parenthesis.

Re: Bottlemaker in Dumbarton?
Hello, Alison. I was wondering if you've had any luck locating any records of the Dumbarton Glass Works. In John C. Logan's paper on the Dumbarton Glass Works, he cites records of the Dumbarton Glass Works, but I have been unable to locate them. I contacted the West Dunbartonshire Council which dire...

Re: Isaac G. Robinson (1814-1893)- Photo Resemblance Questio
I don't put much stock in the reporting of my Robinson ancestors. According to them, Isaac was born in New York, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Woodstock, NY, Dutchess County, NY, and Scotland. There is probably a grain of truth in each, but I am not locking in on any of them. My Find-...

Re: Scottish Glassblowers
Woo-hoo! I just received a copy of a letter written to my 4th-great grandfather, Daniel Robinson, in 1818. It was a letter recruiting him to work at the Ulster Glass Company in Woodstock, NY as glass blower. Sweet! It gets me definitively two years further back... hopefully closer to figuring out hi...

Isaac G. Robinson (1814-1893)- Photo Resemblance Question
Okay. I know this is a silly question  , but please humor me. By looking at the photo of my 3rd great-grandfather (below), could you take a guess as to where my Robinsons may have emigrated from? I suppose I am wondering if he looks Scottish. DNA and records point to Scotland, but nothing conc...

Re: Scottish Glassblowers
That's a promising lead! Thanks, Johnny! :D -Alan Robinson, a family of this name were glassmakers/employers in the Dudley/Stourbridge area from the 1770's to the 1850's. The names Ann, Benjamin, George , Frederick. John & Samuel Robinson & a glassworks at Amblecote. My own glassmaking ancestors mov...

Re: Scottish Glassblowers
Thank you, Sarah! I will take a look at her posts. My most distant Little ancestor, William Little (1754-1797), was not a glassworker here, but there may a connection. Regards, Alan Hello Robinson1857 and welcome to [talkingscot] I noticed that you have the surname Little in your signature. We have ...

Re: Scottish Glassblowers
Thanks, Johnnie. That helps me narrow down my search and gives me some direction. I'm not sure how far back my Robinson line goes in Scotland. One Robinson relative listed his ethnicity as "Scotch" when crossing the Canadian border years ago. Another ancestor Reported that my 3rd great-grandfather w...
