Servants and Surnames?

So researching my family takes me back to 18th Century MacDuff in Banffshire. Just south of MacDuff was a small fermtoun called Goukstanes (currently the land of Dounemont carehome is where it would have been). So my Ancestors lived in the Parish of Gamrie and MacDuff in Banffshire throughout the 18th Century, But in the parish, Births were not recorded prior to 1704, And I have come to a point where I have traced my family to around 1714, With atleast one member being born in the 1640s, And now im stuck, ...

Thank you so much! I found that Goukstanes was in Gamrie and MacDuff which fits into the family tree and I also found out that John Innes the Minister was probably Rev. John Innes who was kicked out from his church for having Jacobite views. Probably a Great Uncle as he would have been 65 at his bir...

William Innes of Gamrie (18th C.)

William Innes of Gamrie born sometime before 1771. Not known where he was born or when. He was Presbyterian. He had atleast one son Peter Innes who moved to Foggieloan in Marnoch and was born in 1771. His Wifes name was Helen Marr. Occupation is also unkown, Possibly a Labourer as his son was too. I...
