Re: Royal Artillery

Hi WilmaM, I hope you are well in these strange times. Thanks for the tip about the libraries. Our local library is only open part time now Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings - I'll check if i can access it online. I know quite a lot about my Hardie side of the family and the ancestry tree is ...

Re: Royal Artillery

Hi Alan, Thanks for the information. The fact that Forces War Records have him listed is proof that I have the correct Regiment at least! All these years I thought he was also in the A & S. I'm not going to register with them as I don't like giving my credit details even though you can cancel. I'll ...

Royal Artillery

Hello - Hoping I can get some help from the great minds of TS. My Grandfather was estranged from my Grandmother after WW2 (maybe during or before). He was born and brought up in Clydebank Dunbartonshire birth 16 March 1901. They married in 1924 and had my uncle in 1924 followed by my mother in 1926....

Re: Mysterious death

Hi Carolineasb
I was thinking the same thing but nothing attached to the certificate. It also sounds a bit suspect that his cell mate could turn over and sleep while Michael Rodgers took his own life. Tough times.

Re: Mysterious death

Hi Everyone, This is getting very interesting Andrew P, thanks for the info - I had my suspicions that there would be children as she was only 29 and he was 42 when they married in 1868. At your suggestion I found Margaret Jamieson on the 1881 census in Greenside Lane. My husband's 2 x gt grandfathe...

Re: Mysterious death

Hi Annette, Sorry I just got your message - I was watching mayhem in Washington. The world is going mad! Thank you very much for looking this up for me. I just recently discovered that Michael Rodgers had married for a 2nd time after his 1st wife Catherine Gilligan (my husband's 3 x gt grandmother) ...

Mysterious death

Hi everyone and a Happy New Year to all, I have been helping my husband out with his family tree as he's missing out on DNA possible matches and I've came across a death certificate for his 3 x gt grandfather Michael Rodgers age 50 . A few questions here: His profession is listed as Police Scavenger...

Re: Alvie parish in Badenoch

Hi Lynn, Thanks for the reply - I did think about the Service Returns but too many to look through - by 1914 he was 36 - still could have been in the war. He was living in Renfrew in 1904 as he was the witness when his mother died. That's quite a good lead but for the fact there are so many James an...

Re: Alvie parish in Badenoch

Hi Spacot, I just noticed this post tonight. My query is a bit different but you might be able to help. I have a James McFarlane who married a Isabella Milligan in 1903 in Old Kilpatrick. He disappears after that - I can't find a death for him anywhere. However i found a death for Isabella in Alvie ...
