Margaret Lauder Stewart

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with the place of death of Margaret Lauder Nicol Stewart. She died 29th March 1952 age 78. I have the death record from SP but can't make out the place. It looks something like Harlweedhill, Shells or Shotts. The death was registered in the district of Calderwood. Her...

Re: Precognition

Thanks to you both for those pieces from newspapers. I wonder why it made the Aberdeen Journal. I did have contact with someone on Anccestry many years ago about this tradgedy and she told me that she had an article from a newspaper which indicated that the group had checked into a hotel then almost...

Re: Precognition

Thank you all for this information. I thought there might be something in The Hamilton Advertiser but searching in those newspaper archives is somewhat tedious. I have followed your advice and had a look in the Glasgow Herald archives but couldn't see anything either. Strangely I found another incid...

Precognition

Hi, I haven't posted in a while but have recently gone back to look at some of my records looking especially at any notes of corrected entries that I hadn't noticed previously! I came across one for Marion Nicol McGhie age 1 year 7 months who died on 1st March 1914 in Miller Street, Larkhall. Cause ...

Re: John Walker Cunningham

Thanks for this info John. We were in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago. If only I'd known I would be looking into this then. Ah well next time we're down that way.

The RCE doesn't mention a jury.

Re: John Walker Cunningham

Thanks Andrew. It looks to be qute a big junction. Maybe he was working on the line as he was a mechanical engineer and something went wrong with the signals. I guess I'll never know. It is strange that there doesn't seem to be a report in the railway accidents archive.

Re: John Walker Cunningham

Hi Andrew, Thanks for this info. I'd never noticed that button before. The entry doesn't give much more info except that it did not happen at the mine but near Craighead Signal Cabin, parish of Blantyre, and that it was a passenger train that ran over him and instantly killed him. It was signed by t...

Re: John Walker Cunningham

Hi All, Thank you so much for the Information. Stupid of me not to put in dates. I can only say I was feeling a bit befuddled as I had been trying to browse through copies of the Glasgow Herald for the following week with no luck! One would think such a horrible death would have been mentioned. He d...

John Walker Cunningham

Hi, I am interested in the death of John Walker Cunningham, a brother of my GGrandfather, who apparently died in a horrific accident on North British Railway at Craighill Colliery, Blantyre. His death was the result of a Compound Fracture of the skull from engine wheels passing over it (gruesome!). ...
