Re: BMD Records for South Australia

Don't worry Trish - my brain quite often doesn't think rationally! Thanks for your help. I expect eventually info about her will pop up from somewhere. I didn't find out about the brothers going to Australia for ages. My aunt also has a vague recollection that the family had some connection with Hon...

Re: BMD Records for South Australia

Hi Trish Thanks for looking for Mary. Yes, her father is Archibald and her mother is Elizabeth (nee Angus). I have searched Ancestry for her travelling to Australia but can't find anything definite. It can't be her travelling in 1892 as she was only born in 1886 so would only have been 6, besides sh...

Re: BMD Records for South Australia

Hello Frances & Trish. Thanks for the links you posted. I have searched them all and so far found no trace of Mary Rennie/Clarke. I had high hopes of the genealogysa.org link which I was also led to through one of the links posted by Frances but none of the results look like the right person. She ha...

BMD Records for South Australia

I wonder if anyone can help me with finding out more about an ancestor who lived in Adelaide, South Australia. Three brothers, John, Bruce & Robert Rennie all emigrated to Australia and joined the AIF during WW1. I have recently accessed their army records thanks to someone on this site who mentione...

Re: Australian War Records

Hi Trish It's really odd about the place of birth. He was actually born in Wandsworth, so I wouldn't have thought that could have been confused with Chicago! Also, he says he is British by naturalisation! Both of his brothers whose records are also there state that they were born in Glasgow or Londo...

Re: Australian War Records

Thank you for highlighting this Trish. I found the service records from WW1 of 3 brothers, my Great-Grandmother's nephews, who had all gone out to Australia before the war. They are absolutely fascinating. One of the brothers was a tunneller and was killed towards the end of the war. There was a let...

Re: Alexander Grey suicide report

Thanks for looking Alan. I suppose it may not have been reported in the paper but it seemed like the kind of thing that would have had a mention. I went slightly boggle-eyed going through the pages of the Herald!

Alexander Grey suicide report

I am still on the trail of my Kilpatrick ancestors and have recently discovered one that I have been searching for - 'poor Mary, how she must have suffered', written by her sister in South Africa to her brother in Glasgow. I have now found Mary and her family living in Rosevale Street, Partick and d...
