Hi Lorna, The correct way of naming the child on your family tree would be James Black Cushnie. The renaming to James Black Cushnie on the RCE supersedes the original name of Angus Wilson Riddell Cushnie and the original registration will always be attached to the RCE along with the new name. There are several Service Returns for a death of a John Clark, therefore, it's possible that John Clark died in WW1 or at least before Alexina was born in 1920 since the girls births are registered under both Stewart and Clark.
