Thanks Lesley - you answered my next question without me having to ask it! My one criticism of Scotlands People is that I can't find much mention of what records they don't have online. I will try the NAS - I have a feeling I'm going to have a long list for them. Do you know if the info contained in...

Thanks Leslie, I thought it might be something like that. I don't have all the marriages of their children but what I do have are fc of Scotland. You've given me something to go on with though, will search sideways as you suggested for the siblings marriages. Just so frustrating when I have the date...

Thanks all for your help so far with this one. I am however still looking for the marriage cert between Thomas and Ann, the date on several children's birth certs was 14th or 15th April 1851, shortly after the census that year. Holytown, Bothwell, Old Monkland, and Woodhall have all been given as wh...

I don't put all my sources on ancestry either, just the bare bones. After reading this post I think I will be making my tree private too, I have also come across someone using my tree and copying everything with out getting in touch, and who won't reply either!

Sorry, Alan, - bit quick to hit submit. (Try saying that fast!) Thanks for the info you posted, once I confirm Crawford as one of mine I will follow it up, I don't have access to the US records on Ancestry and I had no luck finding his death on SP. You wouldn't think there would be more than one Cra...

Hi everyone, Annette, I was wondering where you got your info on the 1841 census, I tried looking for that family on SP and Ancestry and came up with a blank. I'll try and type everything out logically as it's going round in circles in my head at the moment. I have a 51 census which I am very confid...

Hi Annette, I will certainly be coughing up credits to look at that one, it looks very promising and there are a lot of names there I haven't seen before. The three brothers that I do know about are there and the ages are right considering I know they rounded ages down for that census. Fingers cross...
