Re: Access to Historical maps on-line

Thanks Wilma, I've worked out that London Place was actually Gordon Place, which was changed/renames as part of King Street a few years later.

However I have not been able to trace her on the 1911 Census, as yet!

You are right, I want to investigate the Mill records next!

When i first started tracing my familytree, I had access to a site where you could check maps through the years of areas you are interested. I have forgotton what the site was called, no doubt linked into Scottish govenrnment records in some way. My reason is, and maybe some one can help me wih this...

Accessing English records

Hi - an amazingly basic question to ask, but despite being ethnically Irish to 100% or very close, because my ancestors came to Scotland in many cases nearly 200 years ago, I have been lucky to not have to access records outside Scotland, or at least to have to access very few. I've checked Irish ch...

Re: William & Agnes Allison

Thanks so much - I never think to use Family search as I don't find it too user friendly, but guess I should persevere!! When it comes to searching abroad I tend to hold off until Ancestry has one of their free weekends, etc. - but I either miss them, or forget who it is I desperately need to search...

Re: William & Agnes Allison

I've checked myself, there is a Will county, and a Reed Township therein!

Braidwood is also a city in Will county - so worked it out myself!!

Thanks so much!

Re: William & Agnes Allison

As I am not very au fait with the names involved, could you help me with the specifics at the top of the certificate. State:- Illinois, obviously! County:- Mill/Will/Hill etc. Reed Townshi...

William & Agnes Allison

I am trying to trace what happened to my great great grand uncle ( brother of my great great grandfather)! The family arrived in Muiravonside, south of Falkirk, just before the introduction of civil registration. They have not been found on the 1851 census, but the eldest two brothers Joseph ( appro...

Re: opr records - the numbers printed across the tops!

Hi Annette - yes that looks right. Believe it or not Frank's name is transcribed as Dellen on Ancestry, I have had so many variables of Franks surname it is unbelievable - no wonder I missed these two (41 &51). But the icing on the cake is that Janet ( known as Jane later on), married Joseph Duffy, ...

Re: opr records - the numbers printed across the tops!

Ibe checked the original census - which scotlands people also transcribe as Dorner - but 'cause i know it, I can see it is Doonin ! It also showes another daughter, Catherine, who I guess died as an infant.

Thanks again for your help!
