I Had a look at Blacks Scottish Surnames very interesting book, The name starts to change mid 1800's there is a Peter Candy in the 1841 census who is part of the same family.

Hold the phone :!: Ancestry have just updated my DNA test results and now I have gone from being 48% Scottish to 92% Scottish :o :o that's a big leap, so now my origins point to the North and West (Highlands and Islands) rather than the South West (North West Ireland) :D not that I had a problem wit...

Thank you all for your replies and info, thanks Allan for the link, I know this place very well and walk past quite often I see a death recorded on SP so next time I have credits I'll have a look he has to be part of the same famly as they did havel inks with Lentrathen.
