Looking for Barbara Millar & Robert Lindsay marriage

Hi, I'm trying to find a marriage for a Barbara Millar & Robert Lindsay, but without any success. I've searched on SP, and although I have found a record on familysearch which says they married in Edinburgh in 1822 I can't seem to find anything to confirm it. Also it mentioned her birth in 1782 in P...

Robert Britton - Which Ship Did He Sail On ?

Hi, I'm looking for my 3 x g grandfather Robert Britton, who apparently sailed to the USA in May 1842 and lived there till Aug 1844. He lived in Twiggs Lane, New Sneddon St. Paisley, Renfrewshire at the time he left for the states. He also lived in Toronto, Canada too, for 2 years, although I don't ...

Jane Britton - When Was She Born ?

Hi, I'm currently trying to find the birth of my 2 x great grandmother Jane Britton, who was born in Renfrew (probably Paisley) circa in 1823 to Robert Britton & Elisabeth Porter. I can't find her on SP or familysearch, even though census's mention Renfrew as her place of birth. Can anyone help ? Th...

Re: Robert Britton & Elizabeth Porter - What Happened to Them?

Hi, I had a look at the poor law index last night online, and it matches my Robert living at 7 Quay Lane. Paisley when he died in 1859. His wife Agnes (2nd wife ?) registered the death cert. Now I have to find out where I can view the poor law record for him if the museum are closed. His death cert ...

Re: Robert Britton & Elizabeth Porter - What Happened to Them?

Hi, Thanks for your help Nelmit & Wilma. I've had a look at the death on SP for the Robert Bratton which you mentioned and it didn't mention 2 wives, just an Agnes who signed the death cert. It could be him, as he was alive in 1858 when his son married, although his occupation on the 1859 cert was a...

Robert Britton & Elizabeth Porter - What Happened to Them?

Hi, I'm trying to find what happened to my 3 x GG grandparents Robert Britton & Elizabeth Porter. I know they had 2 children Jean/Jane Britton and Robert born circa 1822-26 possibly in Paisley, Renfrewshire. Jane married James Shedden in 1846 and Robert in 1858 to Margaret Christie both in Paisley. ...

Re: David Gillespie - When Did He Move & What Was His Occupation ?

Hi Wilma, Yes, David died a month before the 1861 census unfortunately. I think I may have found him in the poor registers for Callander in 1860, its dated 22 Nov and mentions him as a widower. Hid address at 70 Cowane St. may have been a lodging house or possibly a boarding house I'm not sure. I'd ...

David Gillespie - When Did He Move & What Was His Occupation ?

Hi, I'm trying to find my 3 x great grandfather David Gillespie's address from 1856 in Cross Keys, Doune, Stirlingshire (when his wife died) till 1861 in Cowane St, Stirling. I think he was a miller, or agricultural labourer/farmer by trade. I'd like to know when he moved, if possible. Are there any...
