Re: Ancestry

Hi Nica, No, she is on the English side of my tree. My lot were from Sussex and Kent, but hers are from everywhere in England as long as the last name matches - we are all over the country! Transportation no problem. Find My Past and Ancestry seem to be the sites for English records and Scotland's P...

Re: Ancestry

I was recently contacted by a first cousin who told me she had started a family tree by subscribing to Ancestry in December. Already she is back 1,000 years - in two months! I have never subscribed to Ancestry, but it must be a wonderful site if you can do that! I have a private tree on Tribal Pages...

Hi,

If you go to this site and put in the regimental number in the search box you will get an image of his actual attestation paper.

Re: Help finding a death in Canada please

Hi Karen, Canadian privacy rules are much stricter than those in the UK. Death registrations are only in the public domain in Ontario up to 1937, a new year is added each year. Re: trouble understanding terminology in Will

Thanks for the additional replies. I appreciate your input Anne, guess we'll never find out what really went on. Trish, I think the Edwin mentioned in your 1841 find is brother to Sarah who married Thomas Jarvis and the 1851 folks are the offspring of Edwin and Grandchildren to the original Edmund H...

It's worse than you think - there's a lot more "twisty" stuff in there that I didn't share - just too confusing! But I wanted to try...

Re: trouble understanding terminology in Will

Hi Trish, Thanks for your insights. This Thomas did try to exclude one of his two son-in-laws from inheriting any money but made the other one an executor. I tried freeBMD for Sarah Ann Balcomb but it looks like she married either a Hawkins or Mitten gentleman. I did send for a cert from Kent (Ticeh...
