I think you are right !!! I recently bought FTM thinking it was the best but I'm not liking it at all. Hopefully it will grow on me :( I think my original software was just called Family Tree

Yes I've made mistakes too but this is different isn't it ? Obviously other trees can give you pointers and I have taken info from trusted sources but I try to keep unchecked ancestors to my own off-line trees

You could try emailing a copy of the Gedcom to another computer to see if it can be opened elsewhere and then returned as a later version. You may need version 5.5. Thanks Lesley. As usual great advice from you. I have changed my software to FTM from Family Tree. Old software wasn't loading properly on Windows 7
