Re: Further Info on Blairgowrie Flinn / Flynn, 1800s

Hi You can download digital images of the original census records and the marriage at the Scotlands People web site. It is a pay-per-view site but is very good value for the amount of information which you can glean from these records. It is not usually possible to make much progress when relying on...

Re: Further Info on Blairgowrie Flinn / Flynn, 1800s

Catherine Nairn in the 1881 is listed as unmarried, a General Servant Domestic, born Liff, Forfar,

James Flynn is a farm servant and is with his wife Charlotte and seven children, the eldest of whom is 14, so it may be worth checking for a marriage around 15 years before this date.

Where does it say he was born? Do you know what happened to James after this date? Did he marry?...

Re: WILLIAM DAVIES

Hi don And welcome to Talking Scot :D You mention that "on the son's marriage certificate of 1900, his father is recorded as William Davies, manager of an oil works." Where did he marry? If married in Scotland, the mother's name should also be mentioned here. This may helpyou track down a marriage f...

Re: Miss Bester photographed outside a house called 'Janevil

Hi Doddie That is great that you have managed to make some progress with this. Have you had a look on Google Maps Street View of the street? You may be able to spot the house and establish if it is the same Janesville. The census records from the 1920s-30s can't yet be viewed as they are less than 1...
