Hi Folks, There is a widow Prudence STEWART in 1851 . I'm guessing she is living in Barrhead as i think the address could be Cross Arthurlie - this is only a mile or so NE of Neilston. Can't see any other Prudence in Ayrshire or Renfrewshire 1851 that might fit namewise, and she may not even be the...

Whitelaw 1841

Hello Helen,

Do you know John's parents' names or his occupation? Tailors seem quite prominent.

There are a few Whitelaw families living in the Haddington area on the 1841 census.

Time for a wee song

If I can stop laughing at Drew's post I'll sing a wee song (on second thoughts somebody else should sing 'cos my voice would spoil it) AE FOND KISS by: Robert Burns Ae fond kiss, and then we sever; Ae farewell, alas, for ever! Deep in heart-wrung tears I'll pledge thee, Warring sighs and groans I'll...

You must have read my mind!

Hello Irene, I was just about to post a message about that very thing when I saw yours! I was going to say do not take that kind of info as 100% as sometimes our ancestors told 'little white lies' to get the help they wanted. We call them 'scammers' in Glasgow today! I think all the family's circums...
