Nothing mean about it Tracey - I agree with everything you say, for exactly the same reasons. Besides, what fun can there be for anyone to receive all the info from someone else - I'm sure I couldn't make sense of someone else's tree without undergoing a heid transplant anyway. I'm actually still qu...

Yes Mary, the box under the message defaults to "share your tree" - it has to be unticked each time. The response I got from GR when I raised it was along the lines of "what do you expect, GR is about information sharing". Of course it is, but "opting in" is safer than opting out  The thing I'...

In view of all the above I decided to remove all access to my tree till this is sorted - the good contacts I have will come back to me if they notice. But while I was doing this I had to footer about a bit and noticed that (accidentally) ticking the "share" box automatically generates a message to s...

For anyone who hasn't noticed yet - 1871 and 1891 have sneaked in the back door. 1891 isn't visible in the initial list - you need to click on "view all Scottish census" or whatever it says.

Good Luck

Ha! Thanks Andrew - once you know what it is, it can't possibly be anything else (if you see what I mean)!!!

Berwick makes sense, as his birthplace was Dunbar

Thanks again.

Best wishes

Deciphering help please

I've just uploaded a marriage cert to the gallery, and (if it works) wonder if anyone can tell me where Peter Lawson was living at the time of his marriage please. It looks to me like Parish of Surinton, but I've no clue where that might be. I think he might have been working in Shropshire at the ti...

Hi Connie Can't read them all but here's my best shot : 1841 I think Fairprance is Fairgreave 1851 - Rethington could be Rutherglen. Not sure about the first part of the address but could be (Old?) Blaes or Braes Row/s 1861 - place of birth - maybe Cambuslang No doubt others will have some ideas too...

Hiya - I think precognition is a legal term to do with taking a statement - not sure if it's the act of doing this, or the actual statement itself (vague recollection from working for a solicitor years ago). Maybe that'll do till the experts arrive  Sorry to blow the crystal ball to bits - I li...
