These records were kept updated until 1992 in England and Wales (Scotland too?) so often have lots of extra information e.g. marriage date and dates of death too.

English death certificates have such little information it is sometimes difficult to tell whether you have the right person!

Their 1908 marriage in the December quarter in the registration district of Chesterfield can be found on http://www.freebmd.org.uk Also the births of the 3 sons you mention are to be found in the Worksop area, also Henry's death in Jun qtr 1922 age 41. It's difficult to spot a birth to this couple b...

If you look on FREECEN, you'll find both John McGraws.
The Kirkmaiden one is an agricultural labourer, the other a carrier.

Don't forget statutory registration of bmds didn't start until 1855 in Scotland.

In 1911 there are 2 Patrick Scanlons one in London,born Kerry and one in Dewsbury, born Limerick.

There are 2 Patrick Scanlans in London but both born London.
One in Halifax, born Sligo and another in Bucklow, Cheshire born Roscommon.
