Re: 1911 - Windows

Thanks Alan - your search skills are legendary on TS. My family were living in a house where 2 rooms had windows. I find it interesting that apartment buildings are being built today where some of the rooms do not have windows. Back when I was involved with building or buying a house - every room ha...

Re: Scotlands People Facebook Posts

I've been 'following' Scotlands People on Facebook, their frequent posts are getting very interesting. Re: Help identifying miltary dress in photograph

Sadly I have no idea about anything you have asked - but what a fabulous photograph. Do hope you find out who it is and where he served. Trish Edit: This website has hundreds of examples - could take some time to get through them all! http://www.scottishmilitaryresearch.org.uk/introduction Drop down...

Re: Writing a Family History Blog

Google was the beginning of my family history addiction. I googled my father's name and discovered he had a half-sister. I also met a third cousin who lived in the house his grandfather had built in 1921, and found our family relatives in the USA via an online obituary. Revealing family secrets is a...

Hi Helen There are a couple of mentions of the ship on "UK incoming passengers list. One from Buenos Aires to London arriving 11 Aug 1927 with 3 stowaways on board. Another Manilla to London Nov 9 1928. Shipping Line given as Ellerman Line on the latter and Ellerman and Bucknall Steamship Company Lt...

Re: Tracking Duffy family Coatbridge

On the 1901 transcript I can access (not a good one) the family is living at 6 Backrow, Rosehall Father William is listed as born England, mother Mary born Old Monkland. There is a Margaret Duffy travelling to Boston 1912, aged 17, says born Scotland, race/people Irish. Also says father Mr T Duffy -...
