Have you had a look for her sister too, if they remained nearby it could help tracking the other down.
I can't find the sister on the rolls mentioned by Carol. She may also have married. I did find her immigration form - she emigrated a few months before Martha.

Re: War Widow went to Canada

Thanks Carol. I looked on ancestry and couldn't find anything - so you did better than myself. I'm busy today but will check it out later. She was born c. 1890 so would be 72 in 1962 - possible.

Re: 1911 - Windows

I now live in one of those Frances. 2 bathrooms with fans and, as I call it, a hole in the wall laundry also with a fan. At least we still have windows in the bedrooms and living area!

They must have travelled back/forward to Ireland over the years. I'll check the births/deaths on SP - I didn't realise cert...

Re: 1911 - Windows

Thanks Alan - your search skills are legendary on TS. My family were living in a house where 2 rooms had windows. I find it interesting that apartment buildings are being built today where some of the rooms do not have windows. Back when I was involved with building or buying a house - every room ha...

Re: Scotlands People Facebook Posts

I've been 'following' Scotlands People on Facebook, their frequent posts are getting very interesting. Today was a snippet about the prevalence of Douglas Haig as babies' names during WWI, I've just found your thread & earlier today (Oz time) I was helping a friend with her family history & we foun...
