Re: Scotland's People

Hi Lorna This is how I usually search the new site - Once you log on, underneath the general purpose search is a box that says Advanced people search Click on this link The next screen gives you the options for statutory registers (the default), church registers, census valuation and legal (wills et...

Re: GRO Index

Hi Sarah - no worries - at the minute I'm more interested in the index than the certificates. If they created pdfs or images at the same cost as for Scotland I could be persuaded to get some certificates. It is good however, to be able to check the mother's name - I have many instances where complet...

GRO Index

I seem to be very slow on picking up genealogy updates & have only just found out that England now have some of their indexes online. Re: Scotlands People

Thanks Andrew - I'll check out the issues being addressed and see if this gets a mention. I thought that was the case - but so easy to forget.

Re: Cannot find a death

Andrew

Thank you so much - I did all sorts of searches with no success. All my thanks - she had to be there somewhere - thought I had checked them all - obviously not!

Trish

I was going to download the census if I couldn't get further with the death - many thanks also for that information.

Cannot find a death

I've been searching for a death (with the additional issues of the SP searches) but understanding how the married women searches work, I still can't find this death. Would appreciate if anyone could try & find what I am probably missing. I am looking for the death of Ann Mathers. I have these census...

Re: Scotlands People

Thanks for the replies Alan, Andrew & John - I found a slightly different work around John - I search by 1 name, find the likely suspects & then check for those exact details (place/year) using first name only. Your method is obviously quicker - I didn't even realise you could sort the results. If a...
