Hi Dennis
Where do you think she was born? They seem to have been married in Auchterdennan in Fife. Is that where she is from? Was she perhaps born in Tranent or Haddington?

Confusing great-grandparents
I have recently returned to reviewing my own family tree having spent quite some time on other people's and am revisiting a problem I have looked at and asked about before I knew my mother's grandmother, Jeanie, always known to me as Granny Kerr. She helped care for my mother and my aunt after their...

Hi Laura
Maybe Daryl is descended from this chap and a previous wife who died after which he married Isabella Milne. Doubtless he will clarify in due course.

Re: missing JOHN MCMANUS DEATH
I did wonder about the death in Sunderland or the one in Whitehaven. If the searcher is desperate it might be worth getting both of these records, at the very least to eliminate them. However the paucity of information on English death certs might leave the searcher no further forward. Not easy to f...

Re: missing JOHN MCMANUS DEATH
This is a mystery. I am fairly sure from the records you have found that he died between 1911 and 1915 but there is no obvious candidate in the whole of Scotland that I can see. Hope someone else manages to find the record for you. I suppose it's always possible he died in England or Ireland while a...

It's worth bearing in mind that some education records are closed under data protection rules. The archive which has them will advise.

Unusual source?
Following a suggestion from Chris Paton in an FH magazine of 'genie' ways to improve a spare half hour at lunchtime, I was idly googling the name and farm name of the ancestors of a friend for whom I'm doing a bit of research when, surprisingly, I found a link to a collection of folk songs The Greig...

Sorry, I don't know that area. I will ask my mother next time I speak to her if she has heard of it.
