Re: Larkhall Cemetery

Hi Lynn, I've had a quick look and though there are several stones for Whitelaw and Prentice none are your Margaret. This could mean that the stone was unstable or vandalised so taken down, or indeed there may never have been a stone. However, you know where the plot is so you could try South Lanark...

Re: Hello from Canada with questions

Hi gwenpenny, To augment the knowledge of TS members, I would also add that if you can find a local Family History Society, it is worthwhile joining, they are normally staffed by volunteers with years of knowledge and expertise, and in Canada there will be a lot looking at Scottish records no doubt....

Ogstoun looks like it may be an old name for Gordonstoun see this old map http://maps.nls.uk/view/?id=302 I'm afraid I can't make out the surnames of th...

Re: Larkhall Cemetery

Phil, You're right, I'd copied and pasted the transcription from the CD. But looking at the photo, though not of high quality, it does look like it should be Anne S McNay, transcription error. The two stones are side by side and part of each in each photo, with Anne S McNay (note: Anne with an e) in...

Re: New LDS site

Hi, On the new LDS site front page, there is a link at the very bottom of the page that says remote assistance, follow this link, again on the very bottom of the next page you will see a link to ' Use the previous version of FamilySearch.org' this takes you to the old site, via a popup that suggests...

Re: Where next?

Ann,

You say on the census that his birth place is N K - not known. Are you assuming NK is not known? There is a parish New Kilpatrick, next door to Old Kilpatrick, though nowhere near Auchinloch. Just a thought.

Cheers

Re: microsoft word.

I would also check out the licensing - you can buy a single user license, but Microsoft often allow installation on a Primary PC (desktop PC) and a mobile PC (Laptop), then again both PCs could be laptops or desktops, the idea being if you are using one PC you won't be using both at the same time.
