A Deeside burial ground could be extended and given a new car park after plans were lodged with Aberdeenshire Council.
The application looks to extend the graveyard at Banchory Devenick Church, near Aberdeen, by around one acre and create a new car park with space for 44 cars. Five disabled bays would be provided.
The extra ground needed for the expansion is currently disused.
The plans have been submitted by the council’s landscape services department.
A spokesman for the council said: “The proposed extension will have 231 lairs. Annually there are around four or five burials which would imply the extension will provide for at least 40 years, possibly more.”

Aberdeenshire properties on the market include the 19th-century B-listed Banchory Devenick Church, which is on sale for offers of £100,000, and Kincardine O'Neil Church and halls which it hopes to fetch about £210,000.

PLANS to transform a North-east church into a hub of creativity have been approved by Aberdeenshire councillors.
Banchory-Devenick Church is set to become an artist’s studio.
Councillors agreed to an application seeking a change of use for the 19th Century B-Listed building. The property is owned by Aberdeen couple Judy Ferguson and Didier Altmeyer.
Mr Altmeyer, who is an artist, will use the studio to paint on large canvasses.
The couple hope the building will inspire others to think of ways to promote culture and artistic talents in the North-east.

Whole dairy herd under hammer
A complete dairy herd dispersal will take place at Thainstone on Friday.
The sale, which will be the first of its kind at the mart for many years, is of 64 head of cattle sold on behalf of Messrs J & I Grant of Broadgreens, Banchory.
The family’s Bandev herd of registered and non-registered stock will go under the hammer at 11am.
The sale comprises 40 heifers and cows in milk, four in-calf heifers, and 20 heifers and calves.
Aberdeen and Northern Marts said: “This is a first-class commercial herd of dairy stock.”
