Is Daniel also Donald?

If Daniel can also be called Donald I will have cleared up a mystery.
For some time I have been searching for anything about Donald McIntyre who was the informant on his father's d.c. and Executor of his Will but, although Daniel, John and Janet were all chr in Monzie there is no sign of a Donald.
Peter McIntyre definitely had a son called Daniel [and a father called Donald]. Could Daniel be the Donald I have been looking for?
