I ususally put the county in the appropriate box, then street name without the word street - it usually works.

Do you want to give us one to try?

There are 933 people living at Parson Street in Lanarkshire in 1871. Do you have a number or a name?

I've maybe missed the blinkin' obvious here, but how on earth did you know it was in Lanarkshire? I'm impressed

I had already searched for Stewarts - there are 28 but none of them at 15 or 22. There is a James at 21.

Go to 1871 census at Ancestry, put Lanarkshire in the county box, Parson in the street box and Stewart in the surname box. You should get 28 people.

Annette

An educated guess that Jan was looking for her Stewarts at Glasgow.
