TS Seminar in Kilbarchan Saturday 11th October.
Hi Folks
A year or two ago we had a very successful seminar day here in Kilbarchan. This year could be quite exciting as there is a possibility of the Admin team getting together which would be a first !!
I plan having guest speakers on topics as diverse as Scottish parishes; information sources for notable people; the influence of language and dialect on records; possibly Canadian resources. With question time an essential part of the proceedings.
As an all day event a buffet lunch would be provided as part of the cost.
The last event was as much fun meeting folks who had until that point been only disembodied usernames
So far cost is tentative but would probably be no more than £20.00 depending on the level of interest shown.
Sorry to those of you too far away to join us.
As you know TS is free to all members but there are the hidden costs of maintaining the website and software. This is one way to raise some of the relatively limited funding needed to keep our fantastic site going.
I will post further details as I firm then up but let me know if you might be interested.

Hi Alan
Tombolas proved to be an expensive, time-consuming task for Admin, what with trips to Edinburgh, purchase of prizes and postal costs so we decided to try an alternative means which would be open to a 'reasonable' number of people and everyone would/could take away something from it. Not everyone , like me, subscribes to Paypal or its equivalents so buying Tombola tickets was not an option anyway.

Hi Russell
Didn't get to Kilbarchan last time round so will certainly try this year. Good luck with the planning.

Wishing you great success with your fund raiser Russell and Admin.
The Tombola was very time consuming for the AG, but the first year was very successful and paid for a few years expenses.
Regards
Marilyn
P.S. Wish I could join everyone
