Hello.

It depends when the divorce took place.

Scotlands People have online indexes from 1984 onwards which would indicate when and where.

You could also try searching http://catalogue.nrscotland.gov.uk/nrso ... lcome.aspx

Thanks Annette,

I didn’t know that.

Depending on where you live you may also have free access to old and more recent British newspapers. These can contain interesting, and newsworthy, and newspaper selling, stories of various scandalous and otherwise goings on, named or nameless, surrounding divorce.

But that was usually before the days of no-fault type divorces.

All the best,
Alan

What actual records are you looking for?

If the couple married in Scotland and divorced in Scotland, the original marriage entry will have a stamp or annotation at the margin indicating that there is a Divorce and, on Scotland's People, there will be an RCE attached detailing when the Divorce was granted. If the marriage was over 75 years ago, you will be able to view this online.
