cemetery records - maps

Post by barnsleymeth2000 » Thu Oct 01, 2020 6:18 pm

I have got a map of the grave yard I am interested in. Its says on the plot no. H K V S. Any items what these initials mean?

Is HKVS on that lair only on the map, or is it on others too?

Is it in the same type-face or writing style as other writing on the map?

My good friend Google has not helped with this one.

All the best,

Might it be some code that the cemetery use to record information about what's in the plot, such as Headstone, Kerb, Vase, Statue? Or a note about its condition, eg headstone keeling very slightly?

If the cemetery provided you with the plan, they are probably the people who made the handwritten notes on it, and who would be able to explain it.

Thank you for that info and will try to follow it up. Did not think of that.
