Hello everyone
I am new to the site. A large part of my family history is from Scotland. My dads family is from Linlithgow (his parents came to Canada in the early 1930s), and Mom's side is from Fife (her grandparents came in 1910).
I recently got a copy of the 1921 census with my grandmother on it. I am visually impaired and cannot make out the address on the page.
In all there is only 2 address on it, one is where my grandmother lives at and the other is 146 High Street. I am positive the first word is "The" from there I a can't decipher much. Any tips as to how I can find out what this says?
.
.
Thanks in advance
Lisa Morrison

Re: Help with location/address on 1921 Scotland census
Hi Lisa,
The address is "The Vennel".
. '
A vennel is a Scottish term for a lane, usually between two gable ends of buildings; in this case off of Linlithgow High Street.
On looking at a modern map or Google StreetView, it is long gone, with modern buildings along that part of the north side of the High Street.
All the best,
Andrew
