Avast

Post by speleobat2 » Thu Aug 13, 2015 4:47 pm

Is anyone familiar with Avast Anti-Virus software? My computer died last week. I ended up with the dreaded blue screen. I'm getting a new harddrive which the shop says will come with Avast installed. Is this a good program or should I try to go back to Kasparsky? I don't know the cause of the crash. I hope to find out more tomorrow when I pick up the computer. It will be running Windows 7.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Carol

Sorry about the demise of your poor computer :( I hope you had a recent backup :)
I have used Avast for years and had no problems with it although it did not like any other Anti-virus software, including some earlier versions of Windows, and I had to switch them off. Plenty of security up dates available which were quick to download.

It worked well with ours though hubby has recently switched to AVG again -

if you don't mind Pam Ferris interrupting you every so often to say:
" a Vast Virus database has been up dated" !!!

Thanks Russell and Wilma! Fortunately, I took everyone's advice early on and backed up everything regularily!
