Hi everyone,
Just to let you know i have found Thomas Purcell's death cert. I went for the Glasgow death in 1945 which would fit in with him being born round about 1911 and in his thirties - so he didn't die in Wales/England after all. He was 33 and single and died either in the ambulance or in the Victoria Hospital - cause of death TB. The surprise was that his sister (A? Birrell ) was the witness - news to us that he had a sister. So another lead to follow!
Thanks to everyone!

Hi everyone,
After slogging through the BMD's off and on for many months, I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy one of the marriage certs. I had two likely candidates for my great uncle William Munro whom we knew was married and had at least one child from a Christmas card we found which was from William and Mrs. Munro and Douglas!!!
We had no clues to her first name though, not even a likely unidentified picture. Anyway, the marriage certificate arrived today. Not only is it the correct William Munro with his father's name and occupation, his own occupation, his address and age, but also her name, age, address, and father's name.
So now we know that William married Florence Annie Maluish on March 23, 1907 in Union Chapel, Compton Terrace, Upper Street, Islington. I found a little information on Union Chapel and two census records for the Maluish family. No luck on the birth cert for Douglas or death certs for any of them yet, but now I can go back to slogging through the quarterly records with a little luck behind me!

Hi Carol
Tis lovely when you get it right
Just to mention, freeBDM is now well into the 1920s - so Douglas may be there. it would be lovely if some children were born after 1911, cause the mother's maiden name is on the index. Then again, the only Douglas I can see is registered at Birkenhead 1909.
Also the English 1911 census is due out next year - hopefully your family will be there.
Trish

Hi Trish,
Can't wait for that 1911 Census!!!
This branch of the family has been giving me fits. I found the Douglas born in Birkenhead, but everything about the Maluish family points to Florence staying right in Islington when she gave birth. That's where she was born and raised and her parents stayed--as far as I can see!
The other problem is we have one small picture of a small child with the initials M.D.M. written on it so Douglas's name might have been Malcolm Douglas after William's father. There are two Malcolm Douglas Munros born in the right time period, but again neither one anywhere near Islington! Also, this is another case of not knowing where a name came from. There are no Douglas's in the Munro family and none that I can find in the Maluish family so far. More things for me to puzzle out!
