According to this no 228 was built c1830 but no mention of 230 :x !.

Just seen that 229 and 231 are now businesses, i am definitly going to try and have a look next week if i get a chance .

Camberwell New Road compared to Camberwell Road has fabulous old houses all along it and still very much residential with very little looking like it has changed.
I may be way off (as usual) but The Imperial War Museum is about 5 - 10 mins away from here so the area may have had a military link :?

Hello Joyce

I am no expert on WWI or any other form of military
Dont worry that he may not have served in the war, if he was in the military at the time he would go to a "military" hospital regardless of the cause of his illness. When I was in the navy, I had a very serious car accident on mid-winter leave while I was doing my communications training and spent six weeks in a Repatriation Hospital here in the west (VA Hospital for our American friends) althought the Vietnam war was in full fling at the time, I did not serve in a war zone thanks to said car accident. So your relative could have suffered some other ailment that placed him in the hospital.

Good, im pleased they got in touch relatively quickly. The house your looking at i think was built later than the ones it is attached to, it isnt quite as "grand" or "pretty" as the others are or were in their hey day i would say c mid to late 1800,s. - but could be wrong.

Please do keep us informed
