Apparently the carrier pidgeon that it was strapped to got bird flu and came down over Birmingham where it was subsequently picked up by a passing tortoise. Or maybe its just coming by Parcel Farce!!

Hi all!
It's a pity the English MCs of this period dont give details of the mother

Nevertheless I can see nothing from the information given that doesn't support previous conclusions. Everything ties up. The weight of probability leans heavily towards this James Collings being the son of James Collings, a tailor from Aylesbury b. 1811 and Isabella Woodbridge AND father of Frank Woodbridge Collings b. 1897 in Manchester.
Why Frank would have given the middle name of his deceased father as Henry rather than Woodbridge I dont know but everything points to him being the right guy.
