Looking for Louis

Hello,

I have a marriage record for Ida Kathleen Lennox (nee Russell).
Ida married in 1927 at the Parish Church in St. Peter in Sussex.
Ida was born in 1906 in Bexhill On Sea and, according to her marriage record her dad was Louis Russell.

I've been unable to find any record of Louis Russell.

Hi Dennis

There are a few candidates for Louis Russell on the cenuses, including one born in Scotland who is actually in prison in 1901

What was the name of Ida's mother? If you had that you could trace Louis's marriage which would at least give you his father's name.

If you can't get that info this may be one that has to wait for the 1911 census.

I have a Louis in my family and the problems I had finding him were many, he was found as Lewis-Luke-Lois, so use wildcards.

Hello Ann & Trish thank you for your replies:)

Found Ida's birth record on FindMyPast and have ordered it.

I'm hoping that it may lead to Ida having siblings with descendants still residing in Bexhill. I checked the british phone book for the bexhill postal code and there are some russells living there, but I can't connect any to Ida yet.

Ida's parents, as listed on her 1906 birth record were Louis Russell and Kate Vincent. They had 4 children of who the two youngest were Ida in 1906 and Geoffrey Alan in 1907; all supposedly born in Bexhill.

I am still unable to find where and when Louis and Kate married.

There is this from a newspaper ad.

I have communicated with a living descendant of Louis & Kate who does not know what became of Albert & Ida nor their 3 daughters.

Maybe I need to hire somebody to find out what actually happened with Albert & Ida & their 3 wee lasses.

There is also the question of what became of Albert's two youger brothers Jock & Alan who were born in Morocco

There is a record on FreeBDM for marriage Jun Qtr 1893 London C. 1C 84
Louis Russell - on the same page Alice Kate Vincent, so it looks that they married in London.

Unfortunately it didn't help me find them in 1901 - I did look. From the news article you linked the garage was started before 1901 so they should be there somewhere??
