Hello Dennis,

Virginia Water is a village and has been around for quite a while. What sort of burying place are you looking for, the old village churchyard variety or the larger modern cemetery and/or crematorium variety, and what was the likely religion?

Here’s Christ Church Virginia Water on Google Maps, you can see the gravestones around the church. http://maps.google.com/maps?t=h&hl=en&i ... 02106&z=19

Englefield Green Cemetery is less than a mile and a half north of Christ Church, Virginia Water. In Google Maps zoom out and travel up the A30. The cemetery is on the left side, not far past the strange-looking semi-circular building. You would think that would have to be the closest.

Hope that helps a bit,
Alan

Hi Alan,

I'm looking for a couple whose ashes are interred there according to their daughter. She did mention Christ Church and that she herself married there.

Hello Dennis,

This is claimed to be a list of Crematoria and Cemeteries within ten miles of Virginia Water. http://www.yell.com/s/crematoria+and+ce ... water.html

Looking at Englefield Green again there’s what looks like a church in one corner so maybe that’s a churchyard, although it looks too big for that.

If someone is cremated the disposal of their ashes isn’t much of a problem. They can be put into a niche in the wall, or whatever, at the Crematorium. They can be given to relatives, to keep on the mantle piece, or to scatter somewhere. Family Graves can be reopened to deposit ashes and I imagine the rules there would be more flexibility than if there was a body being buried.

The Google images at Virginia Water are pretty good and I wish they were all like that. Some other places in the UK and elsewhere have images where something the size of a car shows up as just a smudge. I don’t know why that is, why some areas have higher resolution images than others.

All the best,
Alan
