Hi,
I was looking for a lead on my cousin's marriage; all I knew was that she had married a fellow in south Africa and they produced 6 children. She is mentioned in this article http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/s/20423 ... mer_editor as his 1st wife and I know the names of the 6 children they had.
The article notes he was born in London on October 11 1924, but FMP shows no birth for him and the article has no parents listed.
regards. dennis
I'm thinking he may have been born under his mom's surname and when he was paroled from the Barnardo's he took his stepdad's surname; tho I don't know if there are records of adoption.

Not much help and you probably looked already but on freecen just searching the first name Tony Dec q 1924 these are returned for the area your looking for. Although Richmond (Surrey) is technically not London i think of it as so as it isnt that far from Central London and comes under the London Borough of Richmond. West Ham although noted as Essex is now really East London.

later
*Actually not much help at all as the above names note the mothers maiden name

West HamThe London Borough of Richmond upon Thames includes The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames includes Richmond, Kew, Barnes, Ham, East Sheen, St Margarets, Strawberry Hill, Mortlake, Petersham, Twickenham, Teddington, Whitton, Hampton Hill and Hampton. We think it's the greatest community in Greater London - perhaps in the whole of England.
The name was 'created' in 1963, although interestingly Twickenham has twice the population of Richmond and is the home of the Borough Council offices for Richmond upon Thames. The town of Richmond is known as Richmond Surrey (or Richmond in Surrey).

Re: Can find no record of birth or parents
His 1982 marriage was in England Jun 1982 Surrey North Western - it would supposedly have his father's name - although it is over 9 pounds now for a certificate. If he has an adopted name on the certificate, it probably wouldn't be of great use.
Tracey - there are 76 births in that quarter with the given name Anthony - just looking at London - which may be another possible for his given name. I haven't checked them all for a mainden name= surname - could do later as in my world this evening's television seems to be the wedding or the wedding or some 1970 old shows.

Hello Dennis,
I’m not sure how reliable such stories would be, you would have to judge for yourself based on what is known about the individual concerned.
Googling will give you these results. What appears to be his full name is in the cousinsconnect item just down the page.
http://www.google.com.au/webhp?complete ... 77d7b5d323
Go to FreeBMD http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl Search Births for first name John A* in the December Quarter of 1924. About three quarters of the way down the page you’ll find someone with a strange name born in the District of Staines which is in Middlesex.
If you then search marriages just using those two surnames you won’t find many but there’s one in June Quarter 1921, District of Farnham which spans Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex.
If you then search for births just using those two surnames in the appropriate places you’ll find three siblings born between 1922 and 1930 in the two districts previously mentioned.
I wouldn’t have a clue whether that’s him or not, but if someone thought their name was a bit strange and wanted to decorate it a bit then that would be one way of doing it.
All the best,
Alan
