English Birth Cert .....

Post by Miss Poohs » Sun Nov 27, 2005 1:16 am

from 1924 - what sort of info would I be likely to find on it?

I've finally found my MILs birth details, she was born in England 1924 so I guess I will have to buy a copy of her birth cert. I just want to know if it's worth my while, info wise, to do so.

Hello Janice,

the columns on the English birth certificate will contain:
when and where born;
name (if any);
sex;
name and surname of father;
name, surname and maiden name of mother;
occupation of father;
signature, description and residence of informant;
when registered;
signature of registrar;
name entered after registration.

This is fairly much the same as Scottish ones, except that there is no time of birth (upsetting to astrologers, no doubt), and no date and place of marriage.

Regards,

John
