Not Family History but..........

Post by Lorna B. » Fri Jun 08, 2007 9:50 pm

I hope that this will not be an inappropriate message but I was a volunteer in London and was surprised how few people knew why there were so many men and women walking through the streets wearing decorated bras. It would be wonderful to have a cheer or two in Edinburgh.

Next Saturday night, 10,000 of us will be taking a 26.2mile walk around Edinburgh while the city sleeps. We will be wearing decorated bras as this will be the Playtex Moonwalk and we are walking to raise money for Breast cancer and cancer care charities. If anybody is up in the wee small hours and sees us please give us a cheer. The organisers, Walkthewalk, are still looking for volunteers to marshall the route so if you wish to help please look at their website www.walkthewalk.org . I am now returning to sewing yards of tartan ribbon on my bra. My family will just have to rest in peace for the moment.

Hi Lorna,

When I first read your message it gave me a quite a start to find out that there were Men walking around London in decorated Bras. I was quite relieved to find out that it was all for a good cause.

Best wishes and Good Luck with your walk-a-thon.

Shiela

Whats wrong with men walking around in bras :?:

Seiously, there was an article in the local community rag this week where cafe staff wore purple bras on the outside for cancer research. :D
So it looks like it is a world wide campaign.

Hi Lorna,

I have sponsored a former work colleague who will be walking the walk in Edinburgh next weekend. I hope the weather is kind to you and that you can raise plenty money through your sponsorship.

All the best,

AndrewP

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I am glad that people are aware of the walk in Scotland. The moonwalk was done overnight on 19th May in London for the 10th year. It is only the second time it is being done in Edinburgh. The London event was such a happy event that I am looking forward to Edinburgh with mixed feelings. I am not too confident about the distance but the company is good and the atmosphere will help. It is the first time I have been involved with something like this. 8-[
