John came to Scotland sometime after the 1891 census where he married Elizabeth Wigggins in Glasgow (1896) ... John died in 1899 of Scarlet fever.
The informant of Johns death was his brother William Patton.
Father: William Patton (a "small farmer" Ireland)
Mother: Elizabeth Patton (Maiden name is Fluck, or Fluke or Flucke ... spelled differently on different documents).
Unfortunately after John's death William also disappears (possibly back to Ireland) and all attempts to trace the family have been unsuccessful. No birth certificates etc.
Any information would be appreciated.
I have no idea if this anything to do with your family but there is an Eliza Paterson other name Flucke* ( I can't work out the last bit and I have no credit time to look ) who died in Scotland in 1939 born 1856. She might be worth a look.

Robert, For a Civil Registration entry of a marriage, you don't have to wade through county records, you just have to wade

through the yearly indexes (pre1878 I think- then its quarterly indexes.) You could order a few years at a time from the L.D.S. Hopefully if John was born in 1876 and he was the oldest, you wouldn't have too many to wade through. However, if he was the youngest of the family it might be a long haul. However each year is alphabetical, so that would certainly help.

The film no's to order are on the familysearch.org site or take advice from your local centre.

Thanks for that .. I'll certainly give that a try
Annette re Eliza Paterson ... not one of mine (as far as I know) - thank you for the effort ...... What I had thought to be a rare name and a key to cracking my brick wall is far more common than I imagined (16 Eliza Fluck* deaths and 359 fluck* deaths in Scotlands People)
