1911 Census of Ireland
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
Donegal, Cork, Galway, Wexford and King’s County (Offaly) are the latest batch of counties to be made available. Even though there is still some material missing (in particular, some Irish language returns, and corrections submitted by the public), we have decided to make the material immediately available, in the knowledge that the vast majority of our users will be able to find what they want.
See Future Plans, 1901 and 1911 will both become fully available, hopefully, and completely free, before the end of this year.
I saw it here first http://scottishancestry.blogspot.com/20 ... dated.html
Have fun,
Alan

Future releases of counties will comprise:
1. Limerick, Mayo, Waterford, Armagh, Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Fermanagh, Kildare, Kilkenny and Leitrim;
2. Londonderry (Derry), Longford, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Queen’s County (Laois), Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Tyrone, Westmeath and Wicklow.
At present, we hope to be placing the first listed tranche online by mid – July, and the second tranche by end -August, but this is subject to our being satisfied that the data meets our required levels of accuracy.
In September, we will be rebuilding the site to include full transcription of all of the data on the household forms for 1911, including religion, occupation, relationship to head of family, literacy status, marital status, county or country of origin, Irish language proficiency, specified illnesses, and child survival information.
1901, with all data transcribed, will be launched towards the end of 2009.

Hi Wilma
My lot are about 4 to 5 miles north of Enniskillen- Tullycreevy, Monea, Drumcose townlands area, south of Derrygonnelly on the west coast of Lower Lough Erne. There are a few family groups scattered around that area. Where are you looking? It would be pretty good if we were "neighbours" !
Best wishes

Well, I'll be blowed Wilma - yer jist up the road!!!
Out of the whole of Ireland and we're within about a mile of each other!!
If your lot were RC they probably went to the same Church - there was one at Monea, (there is also a COI church at Monea) although yours are about half way between Monea and Derrygonnelly so might have gone to either. I've some MIs for the area, so if you want to send me the names in a PM, I'll have a look if you've not already covered that. There are some Stinsons buried at Monea. Not seeing any Bells there. Loads of Cathcarts buried at Monea! Monea is primarily a COI graveyard but also a place of burial for RCs (the wee RC church did not have a burial ground at that time). The RC stones tend to be older as a new RC church with its own grave yard was built around 1910 on the road to Enaghan. Many of the RC stones are flat and have become completely grassed over. I had to dig a bit to read some of them when I was there last year. Came away with black fingernails!!
Best wishes

I found my uncle on the 1911 census, it was good his fathers father-in-law was on it as well. My cousin will be pleased.

This is extra good. My great-grandfather wrote in 1883 about his brother’s children “Another daughter Anna is in Ireland. She has a First Class Lady’s School in Bray”. Sure enough, there she is, at No. 2.1, Sidmonton Terrace, Bray, Principal of school, age 62, single, born Wales. Everything matches except that she was actually 63. “The French School” was next door.
Now that you’ve downloaded two or more pdf’s for a household did you know that you can combine these into a single pdf and conveniently view all the pages in the one document. The free program I use to do this is called PDFTK Builder. I use the portable version available here http://portableapps.com/apps and have it installed on a USB thumb drive. There are probably other similar programs available elsewhere. The ordinary free version to install on your PC is available here http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-too ... lder.shtml
As well as for the above PDFTK Builder can be used to cut relevant pages out of larger PDFs such as Google books. You may be interested in only one issue of a book of magazines or you may prefer to save only a few relevant pages from a book comprising many hundreds of pages. Maybe you would like to incorporate a transcription or notes into a pdf. You can prepare these in a Word Document and convert it to a PDF, perhaps using an online converter such as this one http://www.pdfonline.com/convert-pdf/ and add the PDF page to the others. (I use the old converter) You may have to fiddle with the paper size in File/Page Setup in Word to get the pdf page sizes a reasonable match.
Portable applications are very useful. You can carry a dozen or more different programs around on a USB thumb drive for when you are using someone else’s computer. If you use Firefox as a Web Browser you can use the portable version in those circumstances and have all your bookmarks available to you.
Hope that’s useful,
Alan
