Hi Andrew
I seem to remember reading somewhere that the numbers for Stat Reg. differ between NI and Eire...I'm sorry, I have no idea where I read it, so can't go check up on it. ...and according to the blurb on the LDS pilot site:
https://help.familysearch.org/HelpCente ... &stateId=1 0 24536991
they are suggesting the numbers can be used to order from GROIE
Best wishes
Lesley

I've ordered certs from there - works fine by post as long as you have a credit card. Our records of marriages other than Roman Catholic marriages date back to 1st April 1845 . Records of Births, Deaths and Roman Catholic Marriages date back to 1st January 1864 . See also the Research Page on this site.
Best wishes

Re: GRONI
Please do not confuse GRONI and GROI.
GRONI is for Northern Ireland and basically has records from 1922 (the partition of Ireland) and is based in Belfast. Has access to pre 1922 marriages as church records in the six counties now Northern Ireland. No on-line information that I know of.
GROI is for Republic of Ireland and is based in Dublin. Has statutory records from 1845 / 1864 (marriage and birth records start at different dates). At 1922 records exclude Northern Ireland.
Earlier church records (baptisms and marriages) need church building or parish information. National archives in Dublin has indexes to this information but access to the records needs the various churches assistance. GROI web site has guidance on who to contact. For instance, there are 147 Protestant (i.e. non Roman Catholic) churches in Dublin, without further information it cannot feasibly be done.
