I was told today by the Belfast Central Library that there are no Electoral Roll Registers for the early 1950s.
Surely there must be some way of finding out who was resident at an address at a particular time.
The Reference Section at the Library were unable to give me any guidance other than contacting local history groups.

Re: Electoral Roll Registers
Hi Calum
Are there phone books for the period still in existance? If you knew a name then that might be an alternative means of tying up a name with an address.
Ancestry has some British phone books which should include NI,

but I'm not sure how good the coverage is for all areas,(difficult to tell if "substantial" covers the particular area you are looking for!) and if you were on a pay-per-view sub it could cost a fortune - you'd really need a yearly sub or free access at a library or similar because even if the NI phone books are available there you may need to view a lot of images to find what you are looking for.The database currently contains 1780 phone books and provides near full county coverage for England as well as containing substantial records for Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.
