Co Monaghan to Scotland .....

John Bogue (born 1841 - Lagan, father Michael) and Helen Halliday (born 1843 - Monaghan, father John, mother Mary Fletcher?) were my gtgt grandparents. They married in St Annes, Belfast, Co Antrim, and then went on to Scotland, where they lived in Old Kilpatrick and had two duaghters Mary and Bridget. Mary was my gt grandmother (married Robert Donaldson in 1893) . Would like to trace them further back in ireland, but this does not seem to be the easiest of tasks! Anyone able to offer advice?
