I am not sure this is really a new topic because I like Miss Pooh think that I will have to pay some one to help with this, Samuel Reid was born in Ireland married in Glasgow in 1869 age 23.
Died Glasgow 1911 age 64 which makes his birth around 1846/47
His parents were John Reid and Jane McNeice.
The marriage took place a church I haven't heard of.
The Independent Church in Glasgow
John Reid's occupation was a Sawyer.
apparently Reid and McNeice names are most common in Belfast and Antrim
Will this be enough information for a researcher?
I have tried IGI and Griffiths but haven't got anywhere.

Hi Wini, Have you tried the following site?
http://www.ancestryireland.co.uk/databa ... me=db_QUIS
I see a Janet McNeice marriage 1845 in Antrim, also a John Reid 1845 Antrim, but whether it will be to each other I don't know. You would have to pay your money to find out.
Who was male witness at the 1869 wedding of Samuel?

I know I should but as usual I jump in and logged on to the site you suggested (didn't read the small print) and found a record I had but just wanted to confrm some details. I looked at just this one page and my 6 quid seems to have vapourised already. Surely it not this expensive. I then liiked for another record and when I went to view it it's looking for more cally dosh!!! surely not.
Have you used this site and is this correct.
Cheers
Stuart

Hello Stuart:
This is off topic but I notice you are looking for Jacks. One of my gg grandfather's daughters, Elizabeth Hay McMurray, married a John Jack in Renfrew in 1866. John Jack's parents were William Jack and Elizabeth Harvey. Elizabeth McMurray and John Jack had eight children that I am aware of, including two sets of twins. Does this ring any bells?
Regards,
Southpaw

hi Stuart, I used this site before for the 'History from headstones' and the marriages. It is not an easy site to manipulate and not particularly cheap either.
(I had to search my e-mails for a log-in no. because they wouldn't let me re- register with my details unless I contacted them???)
Basically, when you do your original search a no. of possibles will come up. This is called your 'dataset'. you can get 5 pages of details from this for your 6 pounds. That's five marriage records of a e.eg. Jane Mcneice. You CANNOT change your search criteria. i.e. if you find your record first go , you can't change to another search!
I retried it again tonight, in case it had changed, and found if you use your back button on your browser instead of the 'back' logo on the page you can access them all in the dataset (that's of course before they read this page and change it). Unless of course it's only my comp that this is working with, but I accessed, must have been about 10 pages.
I found the site contradicts itself sometimes!!
WINI, don't try this site with the search criteria of Jane NcNeice, of the many I viewed tonight, the marrriage is not there. However, it may be under a different spelling, play about with free search first.

Thanks for help.
I don't think the witness at the wedding is going to be much help.
It was Hendry Dow.
I will have a look for him and see if it gives me any clues.
Will also have a look at sight suggested but with caution
