Hope someone can help? I'm not sure if there is an old map of Ireland that would list towns/cities etc. I'm looking for a John Begley born approx 1806 in La??ly Ireland. I got a hold of 1851 scotland Lanark census and found him and his family. at the time John was 45 and was born in Ireland but with the help of talking scot they fiqure out most of it, except the birth place is very hard to read. Boy I love this site! His father James was 60 in 1841 census and was living with them also born in Ireland. hw would have been born around 1781. If any one can help I would really appricate it.

am looking for John Begley and Isabella Mcarthur whom married in Dec 8 1836 in Neilston Renfrew Scotland, I've received the marriage bann and both at Kirktonfield in this parish... Thanks Karen

I'm almost certain John's birthplace started with a 'Q'. There are a couple of possibles given in this very useful site.
[but mind, there's no guarantee that any of them are the correct birthplace]
Try search for a Township beginning with 'QU' at http://www.seanruad.com/
There's also a Placename search at yet another useful site. http://scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/index.cfm
